  • Definitely moles. We’ve been watching the mole hills slowly increase in size and number over the winter.
But yes, those would have been my thoughts too!

        • Had to chuckle about my molehills- there are about 60 now
Think they must be Spring cleaning and having a party
Plenty more to collect I guess

I did some research on molehills and …did you know….
A ‘ wantitump’ is Old English for a molehill

          What a lovely word…..Wantitump !

Anyone else heard them called that?

                    • We haven't had this for a number of years but a chaffinch has decided to keep pecking the window.
I believe its territorial/ seeing off a rival behaviour.

                      • We had a ‘wild’ peacock choose to come and live in our garden for over a year…and he used to do the same with his reflection in my car!
Unfortunately ‘Albert’ would also jump up and kick box it too leaving scratches, so I had to leave the car muddy so he couldn’t see us own reflection in it

So…the motto of this story, is that if you want your chaffinch to stop CG, then maybe you have a good excuse not to keep your windows so clean ?

I guess though that it’s quite sweet seeing yours ‘tapping’ at the window…daft thing

I had this with a male chaffinch too. He would sit on the wing mirror throughout the day and periodically peck at/attack the window, this also went on for a couple of years.
