  • Bee hotels and missing bees

    Hi

I have several bee hotels in my garden which are usually very busy at this time of year with mason bees etc, however this year theres no one. I have plenty of bumblebees elsewhere in the garden though. Is anyone else experiencing this?

It seems to vary locally, my wife is a bee nut and she's finding some quite rare ones around us in NE Scotland.

The mason bees have just about filled all the holes they use in my bee hotel, hopefully next month the bigger leafcutter bees will fill the remaining holes up, turning my rose leaves to lace in the process.

Lots of bumbles in the foxgloves too. What I am missing are ladybirds and lacewings to eat the huge proliferation of greenfly.

        Endless wonder.
