I think like 2sheds says, you see more of them when the weather is particularly hard. A couple of winters ago we saw them in the garden, twas bad weather then too.

        What a fab visitor!
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

We have them in our garden and they nest every year but I have never been able to get pics as good as yours - well done.

I've seen them in the hedgerows near me too, but they're so tiny and fast I'd never be able to get such a good picture - well done!

'He's' just been through again this morning. Seemed to particularly like looking for bugs on the roses and in the lavender.

He's beeyootiful! I managed to get a bargain pair of binoculars for bird spotting at my ponies' field. Don't get many birds in my garden, although I have 100% more than when I moved in! Might try that fat ball recipe!

Used to do a bit of bird watching years ago. I seem to remember that there is a fire crest as well as a gold crest but can't remember what the difference is between the two??
