  • Dog owners - warning re: feeding birds

I've just read this in a magazine, and I didn't know about it.....

Apparently, if you feed your wild birds soaked raisens, always put them onto the bird table, not the ground. They are poisonous to dogs.

As well as Dexter, lots of people walk their dogs at the front of my house - now I know I'll always put them onto the bird table.

      What are they soaked in??
My dog lives off dried grapes (and blackberries) come September/October time.

Consumption of grapes and raisins presents a potential health threat to dogs: kidney failure. http://www.ukvet.co.uk/ukvet/article...%20raisins.pdf

Thanks for that two sheds, I didn't know how/what they did, I just wanted to let grapes know.

PS I soak them in water so that they are all plump for the birds to eat

Thanks, Dexterdog. It's amazing the things we don't know. I'm (almost) 50 and there's always been a dog (or three) around, but I'd never heard of this. Mind you I didn't know about chocolate until 15 years ago and until then I'd always given my dogs a little piece when I was eating it myself. Very lucky that nothing untoward happened to them because of it.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

Yep.........I eat a lot of grapes and didn't know until recently not to give them to my dog!
I used to have a dog who used to roll on them until they were mushy.........then eat em!

I hope chooks are ok with them cos they luuuurve em!

Grapes are very poisonous to dogs and ergo Sultanas and Raisins, and of course Chocolate, so under no circumstances feed your dog Cadburys Fruit and Nut

So too is Cocoa husk mulch poisonous to doggies. My dog eats grapes very occasionally but more likely loses them under sofa, he plays with them like a cat.
