I was going to post the same thing! I know last year in my garden they loved Jacobs Ladder, I've even grown some of them from seed late last year to help the bee's lol And my dahlias they where always on them, I couldn't even dead head because they were always on them! I just wish I wasn't scared of them

Here is a picture of one on the dahlias last year

That's a lovely photo. Dahlia's are a bit out of my league though. I'm very much a veggie gardener but remember seeing things about easy to grow veg plot friendly plants, some of which flower early.

Maybe some Borage? You can eat the leaves, and the bee's love the flowers

I can vouch for that! The bees are mad for it!
The first bees (mainly honey bees) have arrived in our garden this week and they have not shown much interest in the spring bulbs, but they are all being drawn to our Helleborus plants.
We'll be adding some more Helleborus.

Some of the best bee-attracting flowers (in my experience):

                Helleborus
                Crocus
                Bluebell
                Hyacinth
                Chives
                Lavender
                Rosemary
                Sage
                Thyme
                Clover
                Dandelion
                Poppy
                Foxglove
                Honeysuckle
                Buddleia
                Fruit trees
                Strawberries
                Runner beans

We have all the above and more.....our garden literally buzzes with bees in summer.

Comfrey..........mine is usually alive with bees
                  Phacealia
                  Scabious
                  Salvias, the cottage garden type
                  Borage
Most herbs, esp fennel (loved by hover flies too) and anjelica
Blue and white flowers seem popular, I think they see them better.

My sister lives only a mile away from me and she can't get poppies to grow, yet we get a new poppy or two appear every year. We have several gradually expanding poppy plants around the garden.
The eventual answer was for me to dig up some of my poppies and she planted them in her garden and they're doing fine.

I've signed up to this, and we have dug 2 new beds in the garden, and are going to fill it out with plants for Bees and butterflies this year.

We have also toyed with the idea of buying a Bee Hive. We have reserved a couple of books a the local library to do some research before committing ourselves.

Don't forget heather. The bees in my garden love it.

Thanks for those suggestions, some I have already but I'll definitely be getting some borage plants.
