Found a couple of copulating frogs yesterday so hopefully frogspawn to come. Ducks ate last lot

We've got amorous frogs just visible on the bottom and I've seen the first one poke his head out today.

We don't have a pond (small grandchildren) but a friend has masses of spawn in her pond. Lovely and mild here at the moment so I would hope it will do well.

Was enjoying a cuppa break on my allotment on Sunday, & thought - "Had better go home soon, my tum's rumbling . . ." - then realised the noise wasn't my tum, but a frog in the pond! One (presumably) male hugging a (presumably) female, & the male making quiet little 'brrrrrrrrrrrrrrp' noises. I could see his throat pouch filling up & deflating as he made the noise. SO fascinating - I'm in my 40's & don't think I've ever heard one calling like that before, let alone seen one in action! So I spent a happy 10 mins or so enjoying my cuppa & watching their antics.
Many people have eaten in my kitchen & gone on to lead normal, healthy lives.

We've now got 7 big balls of spawn in the same pond and they are still at it - the frog chorus is very loud at 2am.......

However I have noticed that one ball of spawn is totally submerged - it was the first to appear - and is very cloudy whereas all the other balls of spawn are crystal clear and at or about water level.

I've no idea why one ball is cloudy and submerged compared to the others - you can just about see the black spot in the middle of each egg but every egg is very cloudy.

Might be a fertility / hatching issue perhaps?

I seem to remember that it is normal for each ball of spawn to sink to the bottom of the pond after a few days. That is certainly what used to happen to ours and we never had a shortage of tadpoles.

Sitting here very envious because it will be at least another year before I get a pond at our new house, boo hoo.
