  • my latest companion!!!

I have an extremely nosy robin in my veg garden just now, he/she was never more than a few feet away from me today.
fortunately I had one of those strings of peanuts/fat balls from Lidls in my car, so wrapped it round the tree, overlooking the patch I was working on and he happily tucked in!
could do with some thrushes though as they are better at eating the slugs and snails, or so I believe

We had a wren nest in the shed last year and it is never very far away!

You're right Claire. Robins are very tame. Mine just follows me round the garden waiting for a chance to get at anything I have turned up. Sometimes he is on the spade I'm working with or down the hole I'm trying to work in. But I don't mind And he sings for me too

I also have a very tame robin who helps me when I'm digging.
He did try to follow me back into the house last year and knocked himself out on a window. He was fine after a brief bit of care by myself after I'd stopped laughing.
He will come very close, havent yet managed to get him to sit on my hand, but am working on him.

My mum can hand feed her Robin. Ours was a regular in our house before I put up our bead curtain. He used to fly in at the most inopportune moments, usually when we were in a rush to go out. :0)
