Hi plot17b, thinking of putting my hive the right way round ie
    brood
    super
    excluder

any tips before I start? Mr HF has offered to help lift the brood box.

I had a quick look at one of the frames on Sunday ( t was very warm here in Oxon) LOADS of brood all curled up and growing! Happy days!

      Hi HF,
yeah..will def make things a little easier for you if you go traditional.
The thought of trying to lift that brood puts my slipped disc into a spin!

As weather is so good now, will be easier as hopefully much foraging and thus emptier hive. Been thinking about moving some frames carefully to a spare brood chamber to help reduce the lifting weight, but not sure it would gain you anything...rather just make the swap around more fiddly. And risk losing Queenie of course.

Great you got a strong brood in place. I'm going into mine on Saturday morning to see the state of play for the first time, but peering down the quilt does suggest things are ok. And all bees out are healthy looking (no poor morphology or anything). Still stonking quantities of pollen coming in, so I'm more relxed/relieved about giving them top up feed for the last 3 weeks now. I'll let you know how we get on.

Do report back on the brood/super change. And watch your back!
