Do pond snails eat frogspawn?

Hi all, we've got 5 lovely clumps of frog spawn in our pond and it seems to be attracting a fair few snails, some have buried themselves right into the centre of the bundles - cheeky buggers! I've been gently picking off them off but do they really eat it or are they just having a little cuddle with it?

I don't think they actually eat the frogspawn,but could be that they're munching on any algae on the jelly surrounding the spawn???
