Bee activity

I have seen 3 bumble bees in my garden today-so nice to see them searching for nectar.

Has anyone else had a lot of bee activity?

I saw a couple of Bumbles at the weekend... I thought I'd see more as it was so warm, but no.

Lots out and about, and one big queen in the house, trying to nest into the carpet, duh

I've had to move all my Portmeirion containers from the kitchen windowsill to chase a big one out through the window. Not sure how it got in though. (might have a little chat with the furry creatures that share our house :-) )

I've seen at least a dozen over the past week, one of the ones I saw this morning was huge, I presume it must have been a queen

A couple of weeks ago, we had several bees in our garden almost all day long - a mix of honey and bumble bees.
Now that the crocus have faded, the bees have gone - they don't seem very interested in the daffodils.
Some of the nearby trees (ornamental cherries?) have just come into flower and they seem the bees favourite at the moment.

Was in the living room today with the patio doors wide open as it was quite warm, when i heard a buzzin sound to turn round and see a huge bumble bee, the dog went mad at first, then ran off upstairs. I eventually managed to gently persuade it to leave.

We have had a few big sleepy ones,lovely to see. I even had a close look at one as it was stuck in the greenhouse before it found the door again and it defo didn't have any of those bug things on it that are ruining the bee population, so that was good

Seen quite a few bumblebees here before weather changed to cold and windy. Can anyone answer my queation on other thread about where to site a bee house? Would be good to offer some protection from the elements.

A few big bumbles over the past 2 to 3 weeks

I saw my first bumble bees on the 18th of this month, buzzing happily around a flowering redcurrant bush at 5 in the afternoon. It brought a real smile to my face, really made my day - I just hope they didn't catch a chill out in the snow showers we had today, one moment it was sunny the next.....!

This is my litte bumblebee garden, they used the nesting box for the first time last year, hope they use it this year

Bumble bees can and will fly when it really is quite cold, they will often fly when it is quite dark. Honey bees only do this is they are caught out so to speak!
I just love all bees!
