  • Mason Bees.

I'd never seen a red mason bee until this morning... and then I saw two within a yard of each other. What pretty bees they are too.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I'm not sure I'd recognise one, red or not.

I thought that I saw a couple of males buzzing around my daffodils a couple of weeks ago, but haven't seen anything since (and no females), despite having lots of spring flowers and fruit trees to attract them.
My own nests haven't hatched out yet. They had better hurry and come out because they'll miss the fruit blossoms!

I have hives out for them from the Oxford Bee Company plus bundles I've made up myself from bamboo, great pollinators and non-stingers. Loads around atm.

I had loads of them on my plot last spring - making nests in my carrots-in-loo-rolls

Not sure what a Mason Bee looks like - I don't get close enough to see if they're wearing socks. However, just on the plot this evening and I saw three orangey coloured bees flying about on this purple flowery weed thing I've got growing. Plus I saw two flutterbys this afternoon from the office window.
