i heard the cuckoo for the first time this week, the woodpeckers have been around for a while and the night before last i'm sure i heard a nightingale.Comment

Had cuckoos here for about 3 weeks and the woodpeckers longer, think I'm more aware of them because we live in the woods are see/hear things easier, even had a woodpecker on our woodpile a few days ago and that's close to the house. When I opened the volet this morning about 6, the cuckoo was making a rare old racket.

You're so lucky, the last time I heard a cuckoo here in W.Wales was about 8 years ago. Have had a pair of siskin in the garden over the weekend though.Comment
