  • Wasps up to mischief?

I've got my hose fitted to the wall, the reel is in a case thing... Anyway 2 wasps maybe more keep flying into where the case screws together! There is room for about 1 wasp in it but they keep flying in and out of the holes I can't go out my back door as they are always there! Are they just scratching bits off to build their nests, or are they trying to build one there? Do you get solitary waps like you do bee's? maybe they are them...

Yes you do get solitary wasps Igglepiggle. I don't think they're gathering nest building material. They usually do that on shed doors and unpainted wood and you can see the big scratch marks they make.
I wouldn't worry about going out your door when they're there - they're not interested in you.
Keep watching them and tell us what they're doing.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

I've filled the holes with polyfiller, I know its not going to last outdoors but it might keep the sods away for awhile!

Some wasps scratch and bore holes in the pointing of brickwork so they may well like to try polyfiller for a change.
