I used to keep bees at school and was wondering if I can keep them in my back garden,bearing in mind I live on an Estate.

Look in the deeds for your property,mine tells me I can't keep chucks or pigs,but I could keep pretty much anything else. -
It can be done and many do- but it really is about location. Swarms I think would be the hardest thing to plan for on an estate, bee traffic another point to think about.
Can you give any details on garden etc.
some people keep them on flat garage roofs- so the bees are 'up and away' as opposed to low flying over fences and gardens.Comment
