The OH has been doing a bee keeping course for a while with the intention of keeping bees eventually. Our allotment isn't suitable (too exposed) and so we were waiting to get some bees to ensure that we had a good home for them. He has built a lovely new hive but has been given an old hive which he tucked away at the top of his Dad's garden on Tuesday.
Can you guess what has happened? Yes the thing that most beekeepers dream of - he's got a swam in the old hive! The trouble is, they can't stay there. We have found out that his Dad is very allergic to bee stings and our eldest nephew has a learning disability (they live close by and he is round his Grandad's a lot!) and its hard to keep him out of things....so, the desperate plea is for a suitable site to put the new hive! Simon is willing to share an existing plot with a more experienced keeper but, and this is the big but, it needs to be local - within the Countesthorpe, Blaby, Cosby kind of area of South Leicester. If anyone knows of a suitable site please please PM me and we can discuss.
