  • White Ladybird?

Was pulling up some weeds yesterday and saw quite a few little beetles that looked like ladybirds - similar size/shape. However they were white with tiny little dots round the edges and three black stripes on their backs/shells. The stripes went left to right, and didn't go all the way from one side to the other - just in teh middle.

Never seen them before - any ideas?

There are over 40 species of ladybird found in Britain. I've had a look in my beetle guide and there is not one listed as you describe.

Nah, it/they (there were a few of them) had definite lines - three each. They were quite striking.

I hadn't even had a drink by this point.

Yeah - I came across that one two.

I'm starting to doubt myself now.

The stripes went across (left to right) and didn't go all the way across. Almost like they were Adidas sponsored beetles.

If it wasn't starting to go dark I'd be tempted to get down there, hunt them out and take a photo, just to prove to myself I'm not going bonkers!!
