Muck lover goes to a fair bit of effort to attract bees and other beneficials into the polytunnel.
Limnanthes, flowering raab broccoli and dandelions(!) all to tempt them in to pollinate the strawberries.
Today at last a bee was busy attending to the flowers. A middle sized one with a punky ginger tufty hairdo.
However it was almost time to close up the tunnel for the evening I spent ages trying to shoo the thing out.
Yes I get the irony but I am assuming she has parenteral responsibilities.

              • One of my favorite things about the allotment. I removed the black plastic sheeting from my previously roughly dug over patch of land and something caught my eye. Glove-clad index finger included for scale. I actually saw two of them - careful digging required.

This morning at the car park at work I saw these little birds(?finches of some sort) pecking enthusiastically at the wall.
I watched them for ages and started the working day with a smile.

Swallow nesting in busy shopping street in Athens. Am told it's been nesting there for years.

                          • Saw what I thought was an unusual bee/wasp in the greenhouse, and have now identified it as an Early Mining-Bee.

It seems they're not that rare or unusual, but I don't remember seeing one before. Pleased to see another sign that my wildlife-friendly gardening and companion planting is bringing more species to visit

Couldn't get a picture myself, but here's one of the same species from britishnatureguide.com :

Sat on my garlic. Probably better places to shelter from the rain.

Not best photo in the world, but not bad for an iPad photo.
