I guess he looks familiar, I can't say I've seen many this year though to say yay or nay either way. I haven't seen much of anything so far this year come to think of it. I've seen literally one or two bees, virtually no wasps, a handful (not literally) of cabbage whites and not much else, no dragonflies or nowt. I'm going to sit in the garden all day tomorrow on bug watch.

Probably a hoverfly Catseyes and therefore a friend - hornets are fine too as they eat caterpillars as do wasps. We have lots of hornets and they are less bother than wasps. Wouldn't want to sit on one, ATS!Le Sarramea https://jgsgardening.blogspot.com/

The stripy pyjama brigade! Italian striped bug or minstrel bug.
These are on a parsnip which I missed, but they are usually on fennel or cow parsley.Attached FilesLe Sarramea https://jgsgardening.blogspot.com/

We suddenly have lots of peacock butterflies around, which is a delight of course. Does anyone know what this little butterfly is? It was windy so the photo's a bit fuzzy I'm afraid.
