An infrequent visitor. Ants seem to like the edge of the patio for their excavations.
This chap's Greater Spotted cousins are more regular acquaintances, and usually found hogging the peanut feeder.
Out on a boat yesterday for a fishing competition. The fishing wasn't great. My best catch of the day was a rope! That's not a species of fish you've never heard of, it really was a Bl@@dy big bit of rope!!!! But the fishing paled into insignificance because I got to see porpoises and a minke whale
You have to use your imagination as it's Not the best photo in the world, not even a good photo. But I was far to excited. And it wasn't that far away, ....... Camera phone
Look what Chilli presented me with this morning at 5.45am!!! I'm 90% sure it's a Water Shrew but I'll take it along to the natural history group meeting on Thursday night and get them to have a look too.
If it IS a water shrew I'd love to know where it came from because the nearest water that I now of is the river Aln in front of the castle and it's approx quarter of a mile away!!! Gardens surrounding our flat are either lawns with flower borders or overgrown and wild so possibly it came from one of those.
Just a little Field/Woodmouse who has been digging up all the sweetpea seedlings in the GH................and making a nest in one of my old daps (trainers to you).
