Our England is a garden, and such gardens are not made
By singing-'Oh how beautiful!" and sitting in the shade,
While better men than we go out and start their working lives
At grubbing weeds from gravel paths with broken dinner-knives. ~ Rudyard Kipling
It's lovely! Look at the orange of that fringe - if that was on a kingfisher you'd be raving about it!

Found these the other day, not sure what they belong to (some kind of caterpillar me thinks) but I love the shape of them. I didn't squidge them there's not much left in the garden for them to eat now.
We've had green woodpeckers visiting our garden over the course of the year. A couple of months ago there was a parent teaching its chick to find ants in the lawn, unfortunately I didn't get any pics of that.
I found these two in the garden, under the pallets we are storing old roof tiles on.
The toad had the most beautiful eyes...
And this little fellow is apparently a marbled newt.... I had to look it up on google as I have never seen one before. He was very gentle and seemed to like the hot seat of the quad bike...
