  • Thank you VC I must admit, digital cameras make taking photos so much easier, I feel a bit of a cheat sometimes!

Fab pictures PP and Bionic Barb.

    • I have a digital camera too but it doesn't mean that I can take the quality closeups that you do. Nothing cheating about it Verinda - just saves the expense of having any rubbish shots developed

        • I have a BOGOF deal today!

6 spot burnet and carpenter bee.

Looks like the end of an exhausting campaign for this large fritillary.

And three pics of a common (?) blue on weeds.

Soon be winter and then you'll all be spared the pictures. Apart from a few of snowy mountains, of course!!

              • I saw a very cute hare on the beach today. Well, I'm pretty sure it's a hare, it's got quite short ears. The dog chased it, not a hope of catching it of course, it ran up the side of a rugged cliff and shot off across the fields with Molly about a mile behind!

We also saw some chuffs which are quite rare.

                • Lucky to snap this dragonfly as it whizzed by - it has taken up residence at the pond and chases off everyone else.

                      • Yesterday we went to see a 55ft fin whale that's been washed up on a beach not too far from where we live. It was so sad, but just amazing to see. It was washed up on Christmas eve but sadly died soon after.

                            • One of my books says it was originally called a "Red Admirable" but over the years it changed. It's a handsome beast whatever it's called, though!

                              • I would have identified it as a red admirable, I didn't know it's name had changed.

We had a flock of goldfinches guzzling all the nuts today, I only managed to snap one of them.
