        • Moopmoop, I think your local butterfly is a Wall Brown. I haven't seen one for a good few years since I moved down south:

                Large is much less colourfull (and I've never seen one because they are really rare).

                  • I seem to recall that the female Small Tortoiseshells tend to be larger than the males, so yours was probably a girl.

                              • Tough one. There are so many geometrid moths that I struggle to tell them apart. Also your pic isn't the clearest! But my best guess is the Flame Carpet moth, Flame Carpet Xanthorhoe designata - UKMoths

                                If it's still in your bathroom you could try clicking through the "next" and "previous" links from that page until you find one that looks the same.
