  • Sorry, I have discovered I can only do five pics per post and have a fair few piccies I would like to share. So I am not purposely looking like I am spamming.

It was months before I got to see one here. My dh had seen several going back and fourth to work. He was kind enough to wake me for this one.

    Spot the heron

Silly dove, after having several broods she decided to then have her next brood behind the sky dish.

      • Last one for a while! I promise

gained this peahen for 3 days made a change from pheasants, partridges and abandoned chooks.

This fellow was well behaved and flew away when approached. I was not impressed with the one that sat on top of my 4 week old chicks coop that was reluctant to fly away and no sooner had I gone indoors he was straight back

two years running I have seen a juveniles

Shame this pheasant abandoned it, mind you it also goes to show how neglected my veg patch is.

Then lastly this rather large flock of geese which was one of two, when I was feeding the birds this morning.

I live in a village, but yes to say I live in bottom end of nowhere is a fair description

            • Went out to deadhead my buddleia and found it living up to its name as a butterfly bush:

              1.

              2.

              3.

1 is the very common Small Tortoiseshell.
2 is the rather less common but recognizable Painted Lady.
3 is one I have never seen before - is it a Comma?

              • Yes, 3 is a comma.

It's one of the few butterfly success stories of recent years ... 100 years ago or so you could only find it in the hopfields in Kent, but since it acquired a taste for nettles it's been spreading steadily across the country.

                • Hmm. According to the UK Butterflies website, it was restricted not to Kent but to the hopfields of the Welsh border counties. My memory is obviously dodgy!

                  • Buff Ermine moth caterpillar, I think.
Found chomping its way through a cabbage. Better stop blaming the Cabbage Whites for the leaf damage

                    • Found this Toad under a pile of weeds and he decided to make his escape up a flight of steps. I failed to photograph him clambering up each step but, believe me, he looked very comical

"Can I get up this step?"

                      Oh No, there's another one!

                      How many more?
