Thought you might like these - anyone know what kind of fritillary this is? I'm confused between the different pics on google!
And don't feel too sorry for the blackbird - he's overheated after stealing my plot neighbour's figs in the sun! Sorry his image isn't too crisp, it was on maximum zoom and I didn't want to disturb him by going closer. The skimmers however were oblivious and stayed put for about 20 minutes. Many comments from the laydeez on site!

One of my ponds is an old trailer lined with plastic, very inelegant but it has lots of wildlife. This year its populated by huge weird, wonderful and slightly creepy waterboat men. I was fascinated and a bit horrified by this skeleton left behind by one of them
