  • Slightly smaller than Burnie's golden eagle - but a predator nonetheless - I found a Common Wasp on my armchair this morning....almost put my arm on her too!!! Put her in a small plastic tub and gave her some ripe pear to give her some food/energy and she seemed brighter by teatime. Currently in tub in cold bathroom with a piece of fleece to shelter under....I'll release her tomorrow in the ivy covering our courtyard wall so she can continue her hibernation.
Also had my first Peacock butterfly of the year as I walked to work at 12.30pm......spring is on it's way!!!
If I'm not on the Grapevine I can usually be found here!....https://www.thecomfreypatch.co.uk/

    • After much deliberation this now positively identified as a White Tailed Eagle, not a Golden, so that's a first in my home county. I've seen them in the Hebrides, but very rare over this side of Scotland

That’s an unbelievable view through your garden fence. Absolutely amazing. I’d never get anything done if I lived there. You are so lucky.

there are times when living in scotland is just plain miserable, and then you get this where it strikes you it is achingly beautiful

Found this little chappy or chapette crawling in polytunnel today. Its eye wateringly bright red. I looked it up and its a red velvet mite.
I relocated it to a compost heap as i wasnt sure it was a pest or not. Beautiful though.

amazing how quickly the word gets around , two days ago I changed my window feeder to sunflower hearts, siskins have always been very rare visitors to my garden, now they are here in force, males and females, large and small, so more than one pair, welcome addition to the garden in no time flat

Three ladybirds today on a sage plant.
I think its going to be a good year for ladybirds.
