Was it there when you got to the hide? We were at Brodick Castle earlier in the year and they were not about. Then on cue, one ran down did the pose - just like your one, and then scurried off after 5 mins or so.
If it is was on TV you'd say it was staged. They are wonderful

This feeder is near the car park at Loch Kinnordy, no hide there, I just sneaked up behind some trees. The hides overlook the loch only.

It’s that time of year Veggie - the leatherjackets that avoided the probing bills of starlings in particular are now handsome cranefly and can be seen everywhere.
This little chap is probably hungry after having had to hunker down during the recent storm. This iconic bird is generally not shy and is almost as happy on the ground as it is above ground in the hedgerows. Sadly these two traits mean the main predation of robins is done by the domestic cat.
A rather weatherbeaten small copper checking out one of my chrysanthemums this morning. I took its picture because I've never seen one in my suburban garden before, it's the wrong habitat. I guess the recent strong winds made it get lost.
