  • Not great photos - using my phone - but I see this heron every time I take the dog for a walk at this lake. He was slow to take off this morning.

    • Is that a great crested grebe and some golden eye on the water behind the heron?

This is their conservatory full of camelias. They have a camelia festival in March, admission to it and gardens is free. House is open about now. Loads of camelias outside too.

Not quite up to Burnies Standard.....it's surprising how small a bird looks when you capture him with an iPhone

                      • Yep, don't ask me what happened in the pond overnight - yesterday it was crystal clear, this morning it looks like the whole thing has been stirred with a big stick, it's cloudy with mud and there's pond weed scattered over the sides with snails in it (what he's sitting on). I'm thinking a fox having a bath or an invasion of randy frogs??

                        • A Fox(or a Badger) will raid ponds and eat the frogs/Newts/Toads as will a Heron.

                          • Grrr, that must be it Burnie - there's lots of foxes on our site. I'm going to have to cover it somehow. They had my fountain last year as well!

                            • Lovely markings on the frog, never seen one like that before.

                              (helps if you have cluckies)
