wasps gathering

A friend on another plot said to....just be aware of the wasps,so i took these pictures,we wondered what they are up to,it is the base of a sunflower,wondered if it was the start of a nest ,or what the attraction is,can anyone shed any light please

would also like to know the wasps are invading my strawberries just now..
