Sorry Nicos - perhaps we could ask for a kind mod to do some merging here as currently it is posted on the old longeared bat thread.
Incompetent jeanie or what?
Nicos you are so lucky. I love bats - so much so that Mr MF bought me a fantastic bat detector for Christmas and I cant wait to try it out. I know it will take time to work out what I am hearing but I will keep at it!
Have not seen my bat this year yet, but am hopeful that maybe over the weekend I will at least get time to look!
Fantastic picture......lucky lucky Nicos....
Show me a pic of a flash car - heart rate stays steady.....show me a pic of a bat and I am all a flutter (no pun intended)
Am I alone in this?

NOPE!!!
I'm dying to go and look for him again this morning but I think he was disturbed enough last night- so I'll leave him in peace! (* sits on hands and feet)..and takes another peek at the photo!!!!!

We have long -eared bats in the local village church. They are protected here - don't expect it's the same in France. The church cleaning ladies are not impressed however. They have to cover the brasses and the altar in the week - bat wee takes the top layer off the brass! The floor is thick with little droppings too, before they sweep up - although I have to say that as they consist of insect wings and body parts, they are dry and non-smelly.
Next door's roof houses pipistrelles too. I don't think they know. The bats exit and enter from the side of the roof near our house so we count them each year. A lovley excercise, carried out with a glass of wine as the sun sets of a fine summer evening!
Actually as we were whispering- taking the piccie -his little ears were flickering away like crazy .
The door was wide open and he flew around the cellar, near our heads- and I was quite surprised at his wingspan.
Such a sweet little lad- I'm going to leave the front door light on for a few hors at night so he gets a good picking at any moths drawn to it.
Next thing is to entise a girlie for him.......

I think I've just added something else I want when I get my dream home (surprisingly modest for a "dream home" - I wouldn't want a massive one) with a bit of land.

Somewhere for bats... with bats in it.
How about this in the meantime? A Batbox under the eaves, as high as you can get. Unless you live in a bungalow.
