  • Natural England's Big Wildlife Garden

    Was launched on 24th September.

You can register your garden and tell them what you are doing for wildlife. There are tips and you can earn "awards" for what you are doing to help wildlife. (I'm up to Gold standard, the highest not surprisingly is GREEN). They have a target of 10,000 gardens by June 2010 and so far there are 967 members with a total of 316.79 hectares registered.

It is a fun thing to do, you can involve the children too.

Find it at Natural England - Home Page

Any other grapes registered on there yet?

That looks good - thanks for the link, I've just registered!

Edit - I've changed my mind, it's not good, it's excellent. I'll be 'silver' once I've done the challenge (I don't like giving out peoples' email addresses unless I have their permission).

Glad you like it Catbasket, I didn't have to put anyone else's email in to get to the Gold challenge - just kept adding up the points. Now, let's all try for GREEN.

        Hi dogsbody,

I particularly liked the fact that my natural untidiness got me an extra two points (Take it easy)

I'm guessing I don't click multiple times on, for example, hanging basket or potted plants? (Haven't got the time to have a good search on the site this evening).

My gold certificate has been confirmed, only 8 points off the coveted green certificate.

And yes you can put more than 1 bird feeder etc. on if you have more than 1.

Just joined up, & got a gold! Wow!
You're right about the website though - very clunky!

Has given me some good ideas though.
Many people have eaten in my kitchen & gone on to lead normal, healthy lives.

Will do after I have finished setting up my page...site is really slow and will only let me upload all my photos in one go.

Had to remove bog garden from my list as I dont think a damp patch is quite the same.

Wow! I was playing safe and only registering one of each item. This will probably add well over a hundred more points to my total ... got a lot of counting to do
