If someone takes good pics, I was always told it was rude to suggest they had a good camera. Like eating a lovely slice of home-made cake then suggesting the person must have a good oven. That's the recipe for a ding upside the lug with a baking tray!

Oh no!!!!..I don't mean it like that!!!!

Urmmm....tis an idea I had for a Christmas pressie ( for me!)- I asked for one last birthday...and didn't get one- so I thought if I could specify a particular one I stand a better chance of getting it instead of a half share in a strimmer/brushcutter

...mind you being chased around the garden by NTG could be more than interesting!!!!

Nor did I! My Ma used to call it 'a puck under the lug' - lots of ways of getting bashed around the head!

My camera is a couple of years old now and 2 models behind. It's a canon 30d (8mp) but the latest one is the 50d (15mp I think) but they cost around £800 for the body. the 500d is a bit cheaper but has a Plastic body rather than the mag alloy body of the 50d. (around £600 including the 18-55mm kit lens)

The lens I used for those was the Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 L IS USM and cost me £900 12 months ago they're now around £1300

As to other compliments - I forgive you The beauty of DSLR's is no one gets to see the duffers only the keepers

There's two sorts of seals there Atlantic Grey seal - very snooty looking with a roman nose and Common(Harbour)seal has much nicer smiley face, slightly doggy.

Thats a nice lens , does the IS allow you to hand hold at the long end or are you like me (cherry on a jelly)

I have hand held it to about 1/100th but I tend to use it with either a bean bag or Tripod - not to be attempted after a night on the razzle
