Can anyone explain the difference please I have one investigating the nest box in my garden but not sure which.

Have a look at the top of the head. If it is black, all the way down to the eye, then it is a Great Tit. It is also a bigger bird than the Blue Tit, which has a blue or greyish blue head and also has a lighter streak above the eye -light eyebrow if you like.Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?Comment

We've had a group of longtailed tits visiting. It's quite amazing how many tits there are.

It is very rare for us to see a long tailed tit in our garden but our daughter, who lives about 30 miles away, has a feeder just a couple of feet outside her kitchen window and she can have as many as 20 of them fighting over the food. She always pulled our legs about our birdwatching activities but now she knows we are quite envious, she makes a point of watching and bragging just what appears at the table.
She also, of course, can watch in complete warmth and comfort which, she says, is the only way she will ever watch them!Comment
