I also saw what I am fairly certain was the first female mason bee (also known as solitary orchard bees).
She was very nervous (kept flying away when I got within picture-taking distance), so I left her alone to get on with feeding - I didn't manage to get a picture.

Saw a brave bumblebee yesterday, thought I was early!

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

I also see the first bee of the season on sunday ,but so did our kitten it was so funny to watch it doing mid air acrobatics to try and catch it as its the first time he has seen a flying insect made me smile.
thankfully he did not get it happy days

I saw my first bee of the year in our garden today as well, I think it was honey bee but it didn't hang around long enough for me to get a good look or a photo, it flittered around a few crocuses & was off. It's gone a bit dull & windy now so I don't suppose it will be back today!

I was wrong, it came back with a couple of friends, it must have done a 'waggle dance' for them!

Buzzed by a bumble today, put the mason bee house back out on the wall yesterday, hopefully they will emerge soon.

My first was spotted by my four year old great-niece yesterday. I suppose I should note it on my spreadsheet and do it each year.

Seen one every day for the last week, might have been the same one, and a wasp yesterday.

Mason bee nests not showing any signs of activity yet
