i went out into my garden today and found piles of compost all over my patio. they had been dug out of my containers by something. i was wondering if anyone had any ideas to what kind of animal might be doing this?

I'll second that.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

Tends to be squirrels in my garden, right pain they are too. I tend to put wire mesh over any bulbs to stop them and they're usually OK when the pots are full of growing plants.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

It's always a blackbird in my garden. And it's favourite stuff is the things you've got least of!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

In our garden it's usually squirrels or blackbirds, the pots on the patio have all been raided this week by the blackbird & there's bits of moss & compost everywhere, I think it's looking for worms & nesting materials.Into every life a little rain must fall.

well the containers luckily are just the old compost from last year, so no plants were damaged. we do have foxes that come through from the garden next door, but they've never bothered before. i will have to see if i can catch the nuisance digger in the act, just coz im curious now. i just hope they wont be digging my containers once they have veg in!http://pot-to-plot.blogspot.com/ My brand spanking new plot
