  • I have frogspawn in my pond at last!

Phew!!!!!!! Was beginning to wonder whether it was going to happen this year.

Yesterday nothing...today, what appears to be two bucketfulls of frogspawn!
I'm chuffed to bits! Hopefully I can look forward to seeing very few slugs and snails on my allotment again this year once the "Wee frog army" start feasting upon them! Brill!!!!!!!!

Aren't they smart? They are telling you it is Spring at last, Snadge. Fall in troops - ready for duty.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

My frogs returned yesterday as well. Lets hope we don't get a hard frost because that finished the first spawning last year.

Frogs have been returning to our pond this week but has yet no frogspawn, however there are plenty of bees about.

Our first blob of fragspawn appeared this morning - much later in the year than usual. I love to hear the frogs croaking with lust when I go out to see to the chickens in the morning!

We dug a whole 4 years ago to make a pond, but never got round to it. Every year more frogs come. Thursday exactly 20 frogs in, tons of spawn, were planning on moving so we will probably fill the whole in. But there wis a bit of land shielded back of our land were theres a stream, i'll dig a whole fill with water and move the spawn there if we move.

6 lots yesterday, about 40+ still at it today, even in the rain. Looks more like a piranha feeding frenzy than a wildlife pond
