Last night we saw our first bat of the year!!! He/she was picking off flies/midges flying around the light above the front door!
( fingers crossed it was the one which was in my barn!!!...lets hope 'he' finds a girlfriend!!!!)
Also- about 1am I was woken up by a fox screeching.... thought it was an owl at first- but no -it was from the field next to the chooks!
I wonder if it's a very late mating call ( due to the cold weather??)- cos usually they mate Jan/Feb don't they??
Also - when I was gardening yesterday I heard two woodpeckers tapping away to each other.
And- when I looked out of the bedroom window yesterday evening, I noticed the farmer has brought 2 of his cows into the field ( where the fox was) with their two ever so tiny white calves...aww they must only be a few days old!!!
And with seeing my first peacock butterfly the day before, it suddenly seems as if the local wildlife has decided it's Spring too!
