Well, we made a start this weekend and I was so pleased with the amount of wildlife in it. Amoungst other things we found over 30 frogs big and small, our fish numbered over 40 and we also found 2 newts We've left out all the plants we pulled out so that things could crawl out and make their way to our temporary accommodation. We hope that we can line it one evening this week and that we can build a rockery up the back too. My son has got his heart set on a frog house so I'm going to try and get my husband to make one although I do know our local garden centre sells them too.

Thank you all so much for your help. I'll post some pictures when it's all finished.

Just one last question, what rockery plants would you all recommend?

A rockery is a really good idea for the frogs etc. If possible have a few piles of loose rocks included in it for them to crawl into. We also have some lengths of drainpipe for them. I put them between iris's and other plants when we redid our pond and they've been concealed by them now. Broken flowerpots upended are also great shelter for them.
