  • Blackbirds and cat food

No, not food for cats - I had some "old" cat food sitting in a dish my 3 were ignoring so knowing another local feline likes to sneak in for some I left it outside. This morning I was surprised to see a blackbird taking some away presumably to feed its young.

Well they eat worms & grubs, so cat food isn't a big stretch I guess

We have a couple of magpies that come into our garden every evening and eat the food the cats have left uneaten.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I have various blackbirds that sneak into my rear porch and eat the dry cat food every year. One I accidentally caught in there several times and was right nuisance.
He mucked about and pushed the bird/cat/human barrier too far for several weeks. I was just remarking to a friend at a BBQ, that unless this bird got some brains soon, it was going to get caught, just as I finished saying it, the cat caught the bird.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.
