    Hiya all,
I found a hedgehog in my garden today. It was trapped in some netting had it wrapped round its head and feet. Took some untangling, well acually I cut around the hedgehog and then took him (still entangled) to the patio where I tried to untangle him. It wasnt happening, could not untangle it especially as when I tried it was just tugging more and more. So I cut it from round its neck and then tried to gently take the rest off. Sounds easy but everytime I tipped it back it rolled up again but up the right way it was quite happy to unroll and let me take it off. After a while it started to perk up again and eventually scampered off. I have to say I loved hedgehogs before but they are so unbelievably cute.

Aww...I hope he wasn't trapped in the full sun??
Might be nice to leave out some cat food ( no gravy) and a bowl of water for it tonight???

Can you find another way of doing your netting? Not easy I know.

Thanks for sharing those piccies- they're lovely- tis a youngtster isn't it?

Yeah, it wasnt the netting for the cages it was abit I had accidentally left on the ground. Felt so guilty, he was in full sun for a few hours Going to put some food and water out, he already had a drink before he scampered off. Certainly makes you think

We had left out a squirrel trap a few years back.
Cloudy autumn day- left the cage on a low wall.
Came back from work at lunchtime and went to check the humane trap- and there was a ginormous male hedgehog jammed inside.
Took ages to get him out- he was so stressed poor sole and the worst of it was that the weather had changed and it was baking hot. No idea how long the poor thing had been trapped in full sun- but I felt really, really guilty.
It certainly makes you think doesn't it??? ( digestive biscuit was the bait- poor lad had eaten it and then couldn't back out!)

After that ,we made the garden as hedgehog friendly as poss- and he and 2 gals used to visit regularly year after year

i wish i had a hedgehog in the garden. i rescued one once, which had broken it's leg. i found it in the front garden just before dark, so i put it in a box over night, and the next day drove it all the way to tiggywinkles hedgehog rescue. they took it in but when i phoned to see how it was the next day, they wouldnt tell me, so i hope he survived. we also started itching ALOT. don't ever put a hedgehog in your house, not even the porch, and also, not in your car- they are flea magnets, and unfortuneately he left a few little presents when he stayed with us- i had to go to the doctor for flea treatment- how embarassing, doctor could hardly keep her face straight!! she must have thought i was a right plonker.

aww im so glad the hedgehog was alright

i discovered one in my garden last year. it was about 11pm and i had opened the back door to let my then partner in. i stepped out and felt something sharp on the bottom of my foot so i kicked at it and it was then i realised it was a hedgehog.

i felt really really guilty as i didnt realise he lived in the garden. from then i always left it a drink and some food and always made sure that i and any late night visitors we had looked down before stepping outside.

i quite miss him now ive moved.
