Let the dog out into the garden on Saturday and within moment she was back on the top step to the back door barking her head of and looking down the garden. Got the torch out and went to investigate and to my delight found a large adult hedgehog with three small babies. Have seen the babies around since and during the day. Don't have to worry about the dog as she is scared of her own shadow.

Lucky you - enjoy their company while they stay in your garden.

That is really nice for you, I have never seen a live hedgehog. Can you try and take a few snaps please?

Seriously? Never seen a live one???

Used to see them all the time where I grew up.
We rescued some baby ones once. The mum was run over and they were all crowded round her. Bit sad. They were dead cute though.

Put them in a shoe box and took them to a local hedgehog rescue place.
Came home with a rabbit. Go figure...

Haven't seen them since but have seen evidence of them still being around (poo).

We've seen a hedgehog in our garden this year for the first time in the 8 yrs we've lived here . Hopefully it can be tempted to stay and deal with the slugs (not that we've seen that many of them this year).
