Fortunately we have never had any that big. I might just be converted if we ever did.

Putting conkers into corners of rooms is supposed to keep them away - they don't like the smell apparently. My daughter has filled her bedroom with them (conkers that is not spiders!).

Ah - can't argue with that, but there arn't many that big native to the UK, unless they escape from captivity,
