...anyone know how long they live for???

He can't be the only male in the area....me thinks I need to provide some overwintering boxes for his male friends if they're too shy to come inside the barn!!

That's lovely Nicos, I haven't seen our pipistrelles recently but I think they start getting ready to hibernate soon so that's probably why yours is looking for somehwere warm again.I think the lifespan depends on the specific type, I think pipistrelles live about 5 years & long eared can live longer, up to about 14 or 15 but I think that's the exception rather than the rule.

Me too, me too - I have a detector - have been on a couple of fab 'bat walks' with it. Our sailing club one was brilliant - so many bats over the reservoir and a quite rare one was recorded by the tutors!

We have a couple of bats that fly the length of our garden and circle the tree by our back door, when we tuck our chickens in at night, we have to duck to get out of their way!

                    We love them.

Oh and the chickens are taking over my garden!
