It's lovely to see them close up. I found one stuck in the Horses' water trough a couple of years ago. Not sure who was most scared, it or me! I hoiked it out with a shavings fork, and sat it under the hedge in a sunny spot to dry out! It wasn't there when I went back ten minutes later.

We often have the sparrow hawk visit (both our gardens, different birds I suspect as theyare 8 miles apart) and see Kestrels hovering over the verges nearly every time we venture anywhere.
today's treat today was a Dunnock (I think, do they do the wag tail wag?)The cats' valet.

Beautiful little birds. Good flocks can be seen on the Fylde coast. Not far from me, so often drive over when they are about.

A huge black pheasant has been paying regular visits to the base of the bird feeder for the last few mornings! Thought it was a small peacock when I first saw him. He scarpers "Benny Hill Fashion" at the first sign of movement from the house so am unable to get a photo - dammit! When the Devil gives you Cowpats - make Satanic Compost!
