Saw my first bumble bee of 2011 today ...and a peacock butterfly yesterday!
Tis a tad early isn't it????
Never too early for us to see them because it's almost a good a sign that spring is here as seeing the first of the snowdrops. It would be a shame if a cold snap did them harm though.
No bumble bees here yet either but ladybirds were out last weekend when the sun came out and this week i've heard the ducks in the burn quacking away, it's rained most of the week so I guess they're happy
As you do, you get out into that garden, come hell or high water, and as I was trying desperately to tidy up the garden, not what mother nature had made a mess of, but what a mess I'd made of mother nature....... and one single bumblie flew past my ear and headed for the winter honeysuckle.
You actually can't get more special than that in February.X
The weather has perked up a bit here & it's lovely & sunny here today but I still haven't seen a bee or butterfly yet, we usually see them earlier than this but I think if we get a few dry days together we should see them soon. I did spot a ladybird the other week but it was in a pot & looked as though it was still asleep (or maybe dead!).
No bumbles in Aberdeen as yet but the oyster catchers arrived last week and I saw my first geese flying north a few weeks ago now. Spring is definately on the way.
16c down the lottie this afternoon and i saw one large red butterfly having a right good nosey about. Lots of signs of spring and we could hardly hear ourselves putting the world to right for the sound of birds singing.
