  • Rabbits, muntjac and rhododendrons..........

I am lucky enough to have a couple of acres of woodland at the rear of my property and would really like to establish some rhododendrons in one area. I have quite a few small plants (upto 12") and really need to know if I need to protect them from rabbits and muntjac deer when I plant them out. Any advice please?

I would love to be able to see deer and wild rabbits from my house!

Anyway, I dont think you will have anything to worry about with the rhododendrons from rabbits as they are poisonous to them.

The wild (naturalised) Rhododendron ponticum has no problem with rabbits or dear - in fact it is seen as a pervasive thug by many so if your soil is right they will grow fine.
