For where I live, I think it is early Nicos, but the weather here has been so mild, they could have been flying at least a week ago - I did not think to look that early, silly HF

Our little bat have been out for a couple of weeks now. I love sitting in the garden on a night and watching him fly around. He's a pipistrelle, we have a bachelor roost near by in one of the old houses.

He's a noisy little bat and you can just make out his squeaks. Jeanied's staying with me for a week and she's bringing her bat detractor up with her. I wish you lived near as well...you could join us for drinks in the garden and see the little fella. We have a bat walk at Cannon Hall near me I'm hoping there's one while Jeanied's up...she'll love it.

Yes, but Jinny usually hears him a long time before I even see him...it's like a pip pip noise what he makes. Later in the year he brings Mrs Bat and baby out to see us...he's such a tinny little fella and sooo cute with it.

Saw the trails of bats in my garden last year, that is the flash of light reflected from the house when they fly over, but last night actually saw one at dusk, clear as day, backdrop of the red sunset it was brilliant just kept circling the front garden.

Jeanied and I were sat out last night drinking wine, nibbling on cheese & biscuits, watching one of the bat fly round catching his evening meal. She echo-located him at 50 khz, so she thinks the one last night was a long-eared one. He must have liked the sound he was making through the bat box because he stayed near us for quite a long time. Were hoping he'll be out again tonight.

This one came out quite late after sunset - looked to be quite a large bat - so I'm not enough of a bat expert to identify what he is - but he was definitely making his feeding buzz noises.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

After another sunny day, the bats are out as i write. (8-30pm) I love to stand at the window and watch them. At the moment there are about 4 flying round the trees (our house is tall and on a double slope) down on the gardens at the bottom. As the summer gets going they will be flying round the house too.

Hi Ginger and Jeanied.....I was thinking of you both the other night - I was sat outside watching my little bat do laps of the gardens...making its raspberry noises as it homes in on its prey!!
I heard it at about 45 khz so a Pip I think!

I hope you had a lovely weekend, and had the beautiful weather that we had!
