When in the garden this morning I noticed that some of my runner bean canes that had been tied into a cross member were hanging loose.
On having a good furtle around I found the short lengths of green garden twine on the ground with very frayed ends.
Now I know I am not that bad at tying knots so I refastened the canes and carried on with my work whilst at the same time keeping an eye on my canes from a distance.
Next thing is a small flock of fledgling sparrows picking at the ends of the string, each one then flew off with its booty in its beak. I have never witnessed this behavior before and wonder what they can want the string for.
The canes are now fastened in with electricians plastic ties.
