  • Froglets!

After months of nurturing some tadpoles in our kitchen and gradually returning all but 2 of the tadpoles to our pond several months ago, one of our tadpoles has finally got legs and the other one is fattening up looking like it will get it's back legs soon I'm looking forward to releasing them back in to our pond

Oooow, I love taddies. I haven't seen many this year or baby frog's/toads come to think of it. We usually have a resident toad in the garden but I've not seen him/her this year ether.

I have water cistern at my lottie just for breeding amphibians. Its got a load of stones and bricks in it to make an island in the middle of it and when the froglets are ready, they just hop out and escape to freedom without me needing to intervene.

I like to supplement their diet by chopping up any slugs and snails that I find and putting it in the cistern. Its fun watching the hoards of taddies feasting on the dead molluscs.
