i thought ladybirds fed on pollen too? Don't know where I read that. Problem is keeping them - I have a tiny pot garden with no corn/artichokes to leave up, just pot plants...I had to buy in the ladybird larvae from the internet as my 'garden' is so cut off from the rest of nature. I would love to keep them somehow as they decimated my aphids in a matter of weeks...

My son and his family are just back from a week at the seaside on the East Coast. He says the swarms of ladybirds were a nuisance. I told him he should have brought me some back as a present.

I am off to suffolk today to tend to OH's mums garden where there are loads - i am considering bottling some of them up and bringing them back to norwich to keep my few stragglers company.
