Did the required 1 hour from 11.15am. Too many Pigeons, 3 Goldfinches, I Chiffchaff on a New Dawn rose still flowering from June! 2 Song Thrushes and I female Blackcap on cylinder-type fat feeder.
On window-ledge table, 2 Robins, 2 Nuthatches, 1 Dunnock, 1 Wren, I male Great Spotted Woodpecker and some Tit family.
The tamer ones on window-ledge table are fed with a few live mealworms through the slightly opened window, costs about 2 pounds a week year round so not very cheap unfortunately. Varies with frequency & numbers, and any new visitors so are they worth it - deeebatable but my OH really loves the birds so of course they are.

Did mine but have just seen a bird, I don't know. Black and white with bright yellow underbelly and I mean bright! Any ideas?

It rained all day yesterday and the birds were in hiding. Today I have seen more bullfinches, goldfinches and chaffinches than I have ever seen at the same time. Did they know it was BGBW yesterday and did not want to be counted?

It looks like that underside but with the black and white of a pied wagtail on the back. This is why I could not work it out. Definitely not one of the three on the RSPB website. It was only a foot away from me, through glass so I got a very good look.

VVG - did you try the bird identifier on the RSPB site?

Yep - it looked like a wagtail but not a grey, yellow or pied. Kind of pied on top with yellow's under.

Nope looked at that one too. Bigger bird. Went through all on the RSPB and it's not a bird I've ever seen before. Wished I'd had a camera.

Just to say that two Red Kites gave me a fantastic arial disply over my head this afternoon, making the most of a little late sun. I hope it's the pair that nested at the top of our field last year. We are fairly confident they raised two youngsters and it would be great to see them back.

PS. I just don't have enough time to say hello to everyone as they join so please take this as a delighted to see you here!
